Motivating Creativity within the School System
How can we as art educators promote public art with our students and community? We will explore the various characteristics of public art as a mechanism to express an idea in a public space or forum. This project will concentrate on the various aspects and the importance of displaying and creating public art. Our project will be an ongoing, online resource with lesson plans, tips, connections to curriculum and research for teachers and students within the NBTA, UNB and beyond. The website will include…interviews with regional educators, students and curators’, public art definitions, public reactions to art in the environment, global examples, and cultural benefits of these significant projects. We will address how public art and student shows vindicate and motivate creativity within the public school system.
